A Message from Our Departing Head Teacher
March 4th, 2019
I am writing to inform you that I will be leaving St. John’s at the end of the Summer Term. I wanted to let you know now because the post is being advertised and I would rather that you heard this from me.
I have told the children in an assembly and between now and July I will be working with Place2be to ensure that we have a happy and celebratory end to the term.
Unbelievably I have been the Headteacher at St. John’s for 16 years. Time really does fly when you’re enjoying yourself! I have told the children on day 1 and every year since that “I am immensely proud to be the Head of St. John’s” These words come from my heart and every year there has been more to be proud of.
The journey has at times been challenging but I leave St. John’s in a happy place: in a beautiful building, with substantially higher standards and a much improved reputation. Even the Government can’t help but recognise the amazing progress that children make at St. John’s!
The Governing Body are working hard to ensure that the strong and inclusive leadership that has enabled these achievements will continue with our highly effective leadership team and a new Head teacher.
I thank you all for enabling us to work in partnership to build a child centred ethos that encompasses both high expectations and inclusion – this will continue!
This is what I said to staff:
“I love this school and you and the children are what make it so amazing. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. I know that you will continue the great work that has built our achievements because it isn’t me that you work for - it’s the children.”
I am here until the end of the school year so there’s plenty of time for goodbyes.
